Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX9744, the industry's first 20W stereo Class D speaker amplifier to operate from a 4.5V to 14V power supply. The wide supply range minimizes the cost of portable designs by reducing component count and allowing the use of a smaller battery pack. The MAX9744 provides ample output power throughout the power-supply voltage range, making it ideal for MP3 docking stations, gaming consoles, and flat-panel televisions.

Similar entries Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX9877, the industry's smallest audio subsystem. This device combines a high-efficiency, high-power, mono Class D speaker amplifier; a DirectDrive, stereo headphone amplifier; and a low-noise, bypass analog switch. In addition to this integration, the MAX9877 employs Maxim's third-generation, ultra-low-EMI, Class D amplifier technology to provide Class AB audio performance with Class D efficiency.

SUNNYVALE, CA—February 20, 2008—Maxim Integrated Products (Pink Sheets: MXIM) introduces the DS4412 low-cost, dual-channel, sink/source current DAC. This I²C-controlled, 4-bit current DAC features two output channels that are explicitly designed for power-supply margin testing and adjustment. Each output channel provides control of a DC-DC power supply by sinking or sourcing current directly into the power supply's feedback node. This DC-DC power-supply control allows existing power-supply designs to be margined and adjusted with minimal redesign, thus making the DS4412 ideal for servers, video-processing cards, and other DC-DC power-supply applications.
