Giving portable designers the ability to add more features and functions on a handheld device, Texas Instruments Incorporated announced the industry's smallest and thinnest 500-mA, step-down DC/DC converter solution for space-constrained applications. The high-efficiency power management integrated circuit (IC) is the first 6-MHz, 500-mA converter to achieve a 13-mm2 solution size with an ultra-thin 0.6-mm total height. |

Linear Technology announces the LT3495/-1 low noise boost converters with integrated power switches, Schottky diodes and output disconnect circuitry. The LT3495 uses a 650mA switch whereas the LT3495-1 uses a 350mA switch. Both parts are packaged in a 2mm x 3mm DFN-10 package. Their wide 2.3V to 16V input voltage range enables them to operate from single cell Li-Ion batteries up to fixed 12V input rails, delivering outputs up to 40V. The LT3495 can deliver over 70mA of output current at 16V from a single Li-Ion cell, making it ideal for applications such as OLED displays. |

Linear Technology Corporation announces the LTC3100, a triple output converter which includes a 700mA (ISW) synchronous boost regulator, a 250mA (IOUT) synchronous buck regulator and a 100mA (IOUT) LDO in a 3mm x 3mm QFN-16 package. Both the boost and the buck regulators switch at 1.5MHz and use current mode, synchronous topologies. The LTC3100's boost converter operates from an input voltage range of 0.65V (start-up) to 5V making it compatible with single or multiple cell alkaline/NiMH and single cell Li-Ion/Polymer batteries and can deliver output voltages from 1.5V to 5.25V. |
