Diodes Incorporated announced that it has further expanded its Zetex ZXLD LED driver series with the introduction of three new miniature LED drivers offering improved accuracy and thermal performance. Provided in TSOT23-5 and thermally-enhanced DFN6 packages, the highly integrated ZXLD1352, ZXLD1356 and ZXLD1366 deliver adjustable output currents of 350mA, 550mA and 1A, respectively, and are designed for a broad range of automotive, architectural and industrial lighting applications. |

Atmel Corporation announced the AT42QT1060, a touch control chip that integrates 6 channels of touch sensing with the ability to drive up to 7 low current LEDs directly through a pulse width modulated (PWM) output function. The device operates from 5.5VDC down to 1.8VDC and consumes less than 1uA in standby mode to give long battery life; it comes in a tiny 4mm x 4mm MLF28 package, making it ideal for use in mobile phones and other handheld devices. The AT42QT1060 is the latest addition to Atmel's comprehensive range of capacitive touch controllers based on Quantum Research Group's charge-transfer technology. |

Atmel Corporation announced the AT42QT2160 - a touch controller IC combining touch key and touch slider functions in a single device. The AT42QT2160 can control up to 16 individual touch keys with a slider comprising between 2 and 8 of the touch key channels. In addition, the chip can also control up to 11 LEDs through a PWM output function that is controlled by the host, eliminating the need for an external LED controller. |

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. announced the release of a new series of power surface-mount LEDs that deliver a significant advance in heat dissipation and brightness. The new VLMx32.. devices feature a PLCC 4 package with a lead frame optimized to provide very low thermal resistance down to 290 K/W and power dissipation up to 200 mW, which in turn enables high drive currents up to 70 mA for twice the brightness of Vishay's high-intensity SMD LEDs in the PLCC 2 package. For automotive applications, the VLMx32.. devices are automotive qualified per AEC-Q101. |
LT3592: 36V 2.2MHz Buck LED Driver Powers 500mA LEDs from a 2mm x 3mm DFN

Linear Technology announces the LT3592, a 36V step-down DC/DC converter designed to operate as a constant current LED driver. Its internal 36V, 900mA switch enables it to drive up to six 500mA white LED in a single string from a 36V input for industrial and LED signage applications. It can also drive two 500mA LEDs from a 12V lead acid battery input for automotive applications. Series connection of the LEDs provides identical LED currents, resulting in uniform brightness and eliminating the need for ballast resistors. The LT3592%u2019s switching frequency can be adjusted from 400kHz to 2.2MHz via a single resistor. |
