MosChip Semiconductor Technology Ltd., a leading provider of high performance connectivity solutions for consumer, industrial and computing applications, announced a new processor for digital content management and routing of audio / video (AV) streams. MosChip's System-on-a-Chip (SoC) is based on an ARM9 processor and is designed as a next generation digital content manager and AV stream router to manage AV streams over 1394 / FireWire and USB connections for fast and reliable storage.

Fujitsu Launches Digital HDTV SoC for Superior Picture Quality Digital HDTV

Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited announced that it has developed a digital HDTV system-on-chip (SoC) that integrates a video processing engine for superior picture quality, and a full high-definition (full HD, 1920 dots x 1080 lines) multi-decoder that decodes both MPEG-2(1) and H.264(2) video compression formats. The new chip, the MB86H70, is aimed for digital TVs receiving high-definition broadcasts that are ramping up in Europe.

Texas Instruments driving development and ratification of new IEEE 1149.7 standard to slash space and cost for embedded systems

As chips add new functionality and system designs evolve away from boards and toward multi-chip system-on-chip (SoC) architectures, developers of handheld and consumer electronics are faced with stricter pin and package constraints. Texas Instruments Incorporated announced that it is driving the ratification of the IEEE 1149.7 standard, a new two-pin test and debug interface standard that supports half the number of pins of the IEEE 1149.1 technology, allowing developers to easily test and debug products with complex digital circuitry, multiple CPUs and applications software in products such as mobile and handheld communication devices.

NEC Electronics Announces iDTV SoC Supporting H.264/AVC with Full HD processing

NEC Electronics announced that it began sample shipments of the EMMATM3TL, a new SoC product for full high definition (HD) iDTV supporting the H.264/AVC next-generation video compression standard. EMMA3TL is an image-processing SoC integrating all the functionality needed for digital television on a single chip, including graphics and audio/video decoding.
